Many thanks to Splendora who tipped me off to a Brooklyn street artist Dain who reminds me a bit like Judith Supine, but with a toned down color palette and collage techniques more reminiscent of Degas. The subjects of his multi-media two dimensional works are mid-century screen beauties, which is fitting for his solo show at Lebenson Gallery in Paris’ Marais district titled “Born Again”. He’s reinvented these classic visages with swirls of bright tempera, collaged elements and screen printed graphics. Very Mr. Brainwash-ey. Let’s hope his next solo exhibition is somewhere on this side of the Atlantic.
